Hi, I'm Steve Rish — a former special education teacher turned tutor, dedicated to helping middle/high schoolers (and motivated adults) thrive despite learning challenges.
With nearly 20 years of experience in student-centered teaching, I provide strengths-based support for students with diverse learning profiles, using multi-sensory strategies to build both skills and confidence.

My tutoring approach is built on empathy and tailored instruction. Using multi-sensory and multi-modal strategies, I adapt lessons to each student's unique learning style—especially supporting those with unique executive functioning and learning profiles.
My 18 years of experience and advanced degrees in Special Education are backed by a commitment to staying at the forefront of my field. I am an active member and conference presenter for the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and have supported fellow educators through Loyola University Chicago's Special Needs Network. This combination of expertise and genuine care allows me to foster meaningful progress and lasting confidence in every student.
